Welcome to Friends of Glenfrome 2026–27

Whether your family is new to Glenfrome or returning for another year, we hope you’re looking forward to what this year brings!

Like a PTA, Friends of Glenfrome (FOG) is the friendly parent and teacher community supporting Glenfrome Primary School. Led by a handful of parent volunteers, we work alongside the school to organise events, bring families together and raise funds for projects that enrich every child’s experience.

Last year we raised over £11,000

Where the money is going

  • Subsidising school trips for every child
  • AV upgrades in the school hall
  • Annual Scrapstore PlayPod subscription
  • Year 2/3 play and sports equipment
  • A new school hall mural
  • “The Cage” (MUGA) revamp

How did we do it?

This fabulous school community came together in so many different ways. We held cake sales, organised the Christmas and Summer Fairs, ran as Team Glenfrome at the 10K and Half Marathon, sold plants from home, organised a Ceilidh, supported the currency collection, bought tea towels, enjoyed concert refreshments, arranged Christmas discos and made donations.

New FOG website: keep in the loop and set up regular donations

We’ve created a brand-new website so that everything FOG is in one place. Find upcoming events, how much we’ve raised, ways to get involved and news about FOG. You can also now make a one-off donation or set up a regular monthly donation. Regular giving helps us plan ahead and raise even more for our fab school.

Keeping FOG moving

Behind FOG is a small group of parents who take on the committee roles that keep the charity ticking along. Becca, Rosie and Sara have been part of FOG for several years, while Emily, Holly and Anna joined the committee last year and are now settling into their roles.

As some of our longer-standing committee members move on to new schools or feel it’s time for a change, we’ll soon need a new treasurer to look after the financial side of FOG. If you think you might be able to help with this, please get in touch or come along to the next FOG meeting. There’s no need to have done anything like this before. We can work it out together!

Get involved this term

These are ideas we’d love to bring to life this term, and we need your help to make them happen. We’ll confirm each one once a good number of volunteers have come forward, so if you’d like to see an event happen, let us know you can help as soon as you can.

Spooky Cakes & Bakes Sale, Friday 23 October

Brand new cake sale! We’re thinking of a spooky-themed after-school cake and bake sale to finish the first half of term, on the last day before October half term. Think creepy cakes, monster muffins, batty biscuits and spooky sponge. Could you help organise the sale, bake something spooky or spare an hour on the day?

Christmas Fair, Saturday 28 November

Start thinking about it now! Last year we ran refreshments, hot food, a tombola, raffle, splat the snowman, a regifting stall and a crafting table, plus some parents performed a fab Christmas sing-a-long alongside our many tables of private sellers. Can we make this year’s fair even more full of things made, run and enjoyed by our own Glenfrome families?

Think fun games, simple activities, crafts, homemade goodies, stalls run by children (or parents!), family challenges and all the festive favourites. A few families getting together can make a whole stall happen. Do you have a game or craft you could run? Could you help on a stall, reach out to private sellers or donate a prize?

School Disco, Friday 11 December

Reception to Year 2, then Year 3 to Year 6. The discos are always a highlight for the children. Each one needs around 12 volunteers to check in the children, be friendly “bouncers” on the doors, run the tuck shop and help supervise.

We need lots of volunteers for both discos. We can only go ahead with either disco once we have enough adults to supervise the doors. Could you give an hour or two to help make sure the disco can happen?

Join the first FOG meeting of the year

Friday 25 September, 9–10am in the school hall. Come and chat ideas, plans and goals, and meet other parents over coffee. Little ones welcome, bring toys to share!
